It highlights common contraindications and health conditions that can be affected by thermal stress—especially those linked to the heart, blood pressure, breathing, circulation, and nervous system regulation. Sentinel also prompts awareness around medications that may be red flags (for example, drugs that affect blood pressure, hydration/electrolytes, consciousness, or heart rhythm/QT interval), because these can change how someone responds to heat and cold.

Wellness spaces increasingly welcome people who are stressed, depleted, unwell, or dysregulated, and thermal practices can amplify what’s already present. Sentinel supports our duty of care by encouraging honest disclosure, informed consent, conservative dosing, and clear “stop” decisions when needed. It is not medical advice and does not diagnose or treat—its purpose is to inform, guide, and empower individuals to understand both the benefits and the risks of cold, heat, and contrast, and to seek clinical guidance when appropriate.
